Single-piece flow in the home

Tomorrow is Christmas, and you probably have things to do. I know I do.

I’ll keep it short.

Have you ever brought groceries home only to find a few different open containers of the same thing?

I did today, and I didn’t even take the time to lecture my children about the virtues of single-piece flow.

Finish things before you start new things.

And make sure you and your team agree on what “done” means. The teams that experience the best results tend to define it as “deployed in production.”

For a jar of mayonnaise, I’d say that means “emptied and put in the trash.”

Have a Merry Christmas, and best wishes to a 2023 of small batches and flow!
